What is Demo Day?
Demo Day provides an opportunity to pitch your new and improved startup to local investors and community members. The day is broken up into two parts. In the morning there are private presentations at the Investor Roundtable and in the afternoon there are public presentations to the wider startup community.
- 10:00 – Prep for Investor Roundtable
- 10:30 – Investor Roundtable
- 12:00 – Lunch
- 13:00 – Special Words from Staff and Mentors
- 13:30 – Public Presentations
- 14:30 – END and potentially go celebrate!
Part 1 – Investor Roundtable
Your startup will prepare and deliver a 5-minute investor presentation. Generally, startups will send 1 to 2 representatives to pitch the company and receive feedback.
- 5 mins – Live Pitch (have a video ready as a backup)
- 15 mins – Q/A with the roundtable
This will be conducted in a virtual meeting with breakout rooms where you will be paired up with an investor. Plan to meet with 2-3 mentors during this session, back to back.
Part 2 – Celebration Presentations
The second half of Demo Day is to celebrate your success and growth during the program. There will be a variety of stakeholders present to watch your presentation from investors, dignitaries, family, and friends.
- 5 mins – Video Pitch (be prepared to give it live)
- 5 mins – Entrepreneur Journey Chat
Your startup will present a marketing pitch to a diverse audience through the format of a 5-minute video. After the video, you will be asked a leading question about your entrepreneur journey through the program. Think of this part of Demo Day as your launch story or renewed company presentation. The goal is to introduce or reintroduce your startup to the wider community and create some follow up connections.
You are welcome to invite your professional contacts and anyone else you would like to attend the public presentations. Please make sure that they RSVP in advance with the registration link.
