Entrepreneurs of color are disproportionately impacted when it comes to economic access and opportunities compared to their white counterparts. At today’s pace of change, it will take too long to reach wealth equality. In New Mexico we struggle with this, in addition to the lack of economic diversification, relying heavily on the oil and gas industry. We need to develop an inclusive diversified economy for the future of New Mexico.
The New Mexico BIPOC Entrepreneurs Initiative will make a step change by helping BIPOC entrepreneurs to build sustainable wealth in their communities through entrepreneurial empowerment, and expansion of their network and ecosystem of supporters to ensure they have access to investments, resources, and knowledge.
How might we come together to radically reimagine the ecosystem and disrupt systemic barriers so that BIPOC businesses – and their communities – flourish?
We will be launching a mentoring initiative to elevate BIPOC entrepreneurs.
We are kicking off the initiative with a webcast fireside featuring R. Martin Chavez, an alumnus of the Albuquerque Academy and one of the most accomplished latino entrepreneurs and executives in the country. He founded Quorum Software Systems, served as CFO of Goldman Sachs and is currently on the board of Alphabet, parent company to Google. He currently advises venture backed startups like Recursion.
The event will feature presentations and a panel from highly accomplished New Mexican BIPOC entrepreneurs including: Monica Jojola, Founder and CEO of Montech Incorporated, an Information Technology, Training & Instructional Design, General Business Support Services with over 100 employees serving the Government.
